Media-Dominated World

In Japan, erotic expression and sexually suggestive text are commonly adopted and used by adverts in newspapers and on trains to increase sales with little regard for morality.

I filled a wall of the gallery ran by the advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, with cut-ups of such texts, taken from adverts contained within the Asahi Shimbun, a famous newspaper that is neither an adult magazine or a tabloid. My artwork was installed close to the President’s room. Taking advantage of this situation, I installed a big printer beside President's desk. This action created the illusion that the President was continuously generating a huge amount of sexual texts. As a result, audience considered the image of the President working as a poetic performance.
